Another Evolution brings together six practices that use writing as form, as part of a material cosmology, as part of a motivation and the multiplicious whys and ways that artists do this. Featuring cross disciplinary work from Jjjjjrome Ellis, Robert Glück, Daisy Lafarge, Mira Mattar, Charlie Prodger and Sue Tompkins; these artists and writers shape language, repurpose it, let it drift and enter the realm of experience. Through a gesture, a glazed portrait, a voice, the syntax of birds, language lifted from a source text tunnelling into its own reality. From different standpoints each uses language as a point of charged connectivity between people, place, times and so on. The realisation that what you’re looking at is looking right back. The liveness of language and its changeability leading to the appearance of new forms. The slippage of words in an attempt to remember, to feel through the cumulus and the evasive edges of brain fog. The atmosphere, energy, meaning and making. How language evolves as material practice. Another evolution in some way speaks to the commitment to a practice, to an everyday life we inhabit in some way together.
